PostSubject: Heaters!   Wed Apr 15, 2009 9:35 pm

I'm looking to replace some of my heaters fairly soon and I was wondering what heaters you guys used.

I've had two (fairly ancient) heaters fail on me in the last month or so. One was stamped manufacture date 1996, so it's not like I didn't get some good life out of it. Wink

Most of my heaters are a hodgepodge mess of brands (read: donated). When I had to replace anything recently I've been liking the Marineland Stealth, but was wondering if anyone had any other brands that they liked or were cheap, or cheap places to order from for that matter.

My only real requirement is that it's sturdy. There's not a lot out there that's not glass that I'm aware of. The Stealth and the Penn Plex Guardian are the only two I know of.

I use Stealth heaters mostly except for the one Jager heater I have which works great as well.

Another vote for Stealths, dark color easy to hide and indesturctable, accurate and cheap. Bigalsonline.com has em pretty cheap. I also have had great success with the Jaqers.

Don't believe I've ever had a Stealth. I've always had good luck with Marineland Visi-therms. They're not black but I always have enough decor in the tank to hide 'em, so never worried too much 'bout it.

I remember Marineland making another heater too that came in a green box that looks a lot like the deluxe. Seems like Marineland is the preferred brand at very least.

Tempting to try and drive up to the supposedly huge thatfishplace anniversary sale and see if I can pick up a few super cheap. They're being secretive about what exactly will be on sale though so may not actually be worth the drive.

Hmm. Did Marineland get bought and or change names again? Bigal's got 'em listed as Instant Ocean stealth heaters.

They may have Saint, because the first Stealths I got two or three years ago were labeled as Visi-therm Stealth. The most recent ones I've gotten were just called Stealth.
