HABITAT/ENDEMIC: Rocky bottoms of Lake Tanganyika. (Burundi, Congo, Zambia and Tanzania).
DIET: Carnivorous, accepts all types of live food. Brine shrimp, mysis ,blood worms, all types of freeze dried foods and flake.
TEMP: 73-78 degrees
PH: 7 neutral-medium hard water. 10-15 dgh
TEMPERAMENT: peaceful to mildly aggressive(can be aggressive during breeding and to other males of same species).
TANK SIZE: Minimum size 29 gallon
TANK REGION: Lower to mid tank
TANK MATES:can be housed with other tangs of similar size.(julidochromis,cyphotilapia,cyprichromis,synodontis to name a few).
FILTRATION AND SETUP: HOB, mechanical or canister filters work fine. They like rocky formations with caves, niches and crevices and like a sandy substrate (fine rocks can also be used).
COLORATION: Goldish bronze with white speckles across body, they are high backed and laterally compressed body and there snout is shorter and more turned up than a calvus.
BREEDING: They are a cave and substrate spawner. They lay around 300 eggs and the female guards the eggs and the male guards the territory. Eggs hatch in 2 days and become free swimming in 8 to 10 days. (males are usually 1/3 larger than females when mature).
