Also try lookin' under Nicaragua/Nicaraguan cichlid. This is actually the first time I've seen 'em called macaw cichlid.

Max. out 'bout 9", females slightly smaller. Females are more colorful as well and males usually exhibit more pointed unpaired fins. Native to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. There are a coupla color varieties based on location, one more blue and one more gold. Average conditions for CA cichlids. I consider 'em average in aggression for CA cichlids. Wouldn't keep with full-grown guapotes without careful consideration but will hold their own with most CAs. Some debate as spawning method, in terms of pit builder vs. cave spawners, but I'm guessin' they'll spawn either way depending on terrain. I've only seen 'em spawn in caves. They will hybridize with convicts and other Archocentrus/Cryptoheros/Amatitlania/all of the previous/whatever-the-genus name-of-the day-is species.

Not sure what else yer lookin' for Mike. Let me know.

Wow thanks Wyite thats alot of info!

The reason why I'm asking for info is because I'm going to be selling my Red head. She has become extreamly aggressive and is attacking my GT, Common pleco and my JD will not come out of the cave he's in. I want to add another cichlid to the tank but I dont want to add anything to aggressive or to peaceful.

If you have any suggestions for a new tank mate let me know.

Think a Nicaraguan would fit in nicely in her place. That a 55 or 75? Can't remember.
