I would buy as many foam sponge filters pads as I could fit in there and top off with some filter floss. You dont need Carbon it is a waste of money IMO. Carbon is used to mainly remove meds and odors...and to also remove disolved organic compounds but usually don't last long an is expensive. Just fill it up with foam sponges and you are good to go. Use a little floss to buffer the water.

Carbon is chemical filtration but not necessary. Buffer the water with filter floss means to trap small particles and make the water clear.

You can get this stuff a Walmart for like 3 bucks it is in the quilt section.

If you go to Walmart, or any other Fabric/Craft store, just ask for Polyfil or batting, and they'll point you in the right direction.

Oh and I wouldn't do just foam. I would include a small handful of bio-balls or lava rock at the end of the water path on the 700. That way when the foam gets completely clogged (dunno if it will on the 700, but the Rena will for sure at some point) you don't lose your good bacteria.
