So today I decided to make my life easier as far as water changes go. I have 3 tanks in the basement and I like to keep up with my weekly water changes. Unfortunately I have no sink in the basement though. So today I put my 1700gph submersible sump pump to use again. It had been collecting dust on the shelf...lol.

I went out and bought a 50gal rubbermaid trash bin with wheels for about $30. Make sure to get one with solid wheels if you decide to try this for yourself. I siphoned the 29gal and (2) 20gal tanks into it. So there was about 35 gals in there. I rolled it over to the washing machine drain pipe started up the pump. It took about 1min to empty the water. I refilled it with fresh water from the python (hooked to an up stairs sink) and then rolled it over to the tanks, refilled them and I was done. It was awesome...no trips with buckets up and down the basement stairs any more...woot!!

Oh yeah I'm lookin' at pumps. Still trin' to decide what kind and what size. Wanna pump mine right out to the yard and recycle the nitrates as fertilizer. Won't cut a hole in the side for another month or so until I'm sure we won't get any more late season blizzards. Still haven't had our big spring blizzard here yet, and not out of the woods until mid-May. Mrs' Wyite would not be happy if I start that project and snow is blowin' in the house (no matter how little).

Definately not out of the woods yet Ivan, there will be more snow soon, I know it is coming. That pump looks nice Derek, does the job for ya.

Yeah...that pump works pretty well and it has an auto shut-off feature which is nice.
