| Mostly directed at Wyite, but anyone else with any info would be appreciated. I have now my 5 Arowana for this breeding project of mine. Except something isn't quite right. 4 of the Arowana have the same coloration as the big silver I have here now. The other one is black. Fins and all black add to that the 4 Silvers were picking on it. I've tried looking but can't seem to find anything, but what is the normal range of color for the silvers? I have the black one off by itself now, (well in with some cory cats) but are there any other body differences in the black that could properly id it? |

| Looks like ya got 4 silvers and a black, saint. Silvers are silver from hatching and stay that way all their lives. _________________ One can never have too many fish tanks.

| Yep I agree the silvers are always silver. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

| That's what I thought, but I was surprised they'd make a mistake like that. Silvers are crazy cheap. Blacks were not.
Here's hoping the lot of silvers didn't pick on it too much. It's just not nearly as active as the silvers are and I haven't seen it eat yet. |

He's probably just stressted out from between the 2 moves and being picked out by the silvers. But once he settles in he should eat like a monster! |

A while back there was an LFS in San Antonio that was selling baby black arowanas, but had them labeled as silver. I was fully stocked with fish in all my aquariums and had to pass on this opportunity. FYI...they were selling them for $14.99 each. They still had the egg yolk sacs attached, which is a period they are quite sensitive in. Nonetheless, that was a steal for black arowanas. |

| A few in my group started out with the egg sac still as well. They sucked 'em in fairly quickly and are growing like weeds.
$14.99 for baby blacks is an impressive screw up. I'd have been tempted to get them and put them up on aquabid. Even when they show up on the wholesale lists they're at least 50 bucks if not more. |
