Someone mentioned on here that they were looking for one, but I can't remember who. I called the fish distributor today to get them to add a pile of ghost shrimp with my replacement Aros and we were talking a bit just about random fish.

Anyway, the L024 (and a number of other ones as well) are going to be very hard to come by. He hasn't had a cactus in almost a year and said, that Brazil is cracking down on exporting the unnamed Plecos. He was saying that what does manage to get out goes to us the very last. Japan gets first crack since they'll pay a lot more for fish than we do, and then Europe.

So if you see one, and want one buy it as soon as you see it.. Smile

No Biggie, Brazil is not exporting them currently. No mention on how hard or not they are to find in the wild. They could have thousands sitting around in tanks, but they won't sell 'em to us.

He didn't say what the other countries paid for theirs, we ended up talking about the Gulper catfish, and that's how we ended up on the whole Japan and Europe tend to pay higher prices for fish then we do in the US.

I do know that in Japan they don't have hardly any big pet/fish stores like we have here, and there aren't any chains at all. Some department stores carry dogs and dog supplies, but fish are mostly a small private run shops. Keeping fish is more of an expensive thing too since if you have room for a decent fish tank, you have money. Like, it's pretty common for CEOs to be gifted an Arowana as a sign of success.

I don't know if he supplies to that fish or what, but the guy I was talking to was a wholesale distributor. If you do manage to find one I imagine it's going to set you back a bit.

Good luck finding them in stock at that price.

I was at Nemo's today and they had someone that brought two back at 12" the first one went for $225 within hours of it coming in the store. They haven't sold the second yet, since one of the employees wants him, but they've been getting offers around $250.

You have a serious talent for wanting expensive or hard to find fish. Smile

Hey now. I wasn't saying it was a bad thing. Just sayin he had a talent. Though it may be a bad thing from his wallet's and/or girlfriend's perspective. Wink

Just make sure your girlfriend has an expensive hobby too and that should solve the one problem at least. Wink
