Well I just saved my lfs.........they were not supposed to be selling larger catfish due to city rules and I go in there and they have 2 5'' RTCs sitting in a barebottom 10 gallon. I bought them but they are still at the lfs until I get my 75 ready. Once I get them I will post pics.

You mean the same fishstore that you got the gigantic tsn from? I'm thinkin' they don't really care about the rules so much. Wink

He didn't listen before, whatcha think is gonna make him listen now? He's going to have to learn the hard way, and well, I feel bad for the fishies, but am glad I don't live nearby to deal with that eventual emergency evac and/or fish dead zone.

Clarify some things, here, Alex, 'cuz you're confusin' me. Ya have a 20 long that held the goldfish, but now they're in the 25. Ya have a 150, but it's already way full. Ya have a 60 and a 75 that ya never mentioned before today. Plus you're gonna build an indoor pond. Is this right?

The problem here is you have too many large fish for the tanks ya already have. Period. No takin' down info and considering it. That is a fact. Even the most liberal aquarist who knows a thing about the fish you have won't argue that. With the two RTCs, the TSN, the TSN x RTC, and the ID shark, you're gonna have five catfish that shouldn't even be in the 150 singly, let alone together. And don't forget the aro. You're buyin' fish ya don't have room for and stuffin' them in 75 gallon tanks like they're goin' outta style.

Mostlycichlids offered you a chance to be a mod, to participate in a forum that has a number of wiser, more experienced aquarists who you can learn from. Anyone of us would be willing to help or discuss your set ups and how to be successful. As it is, you ignore everyone. "take down info" and do as you please. Without regards to the well-being of your fish. Think 'bout it Alex. You're gonna change one way or the other. Either your gonna continue to lose fish due to poor care until the hobby burns ya out and isn't any fun, or you're gonna wise up and start listenin' to people who know a bit more than you do. Choice is yours.

WYite

Yes and to my credit I think I have been more than fair in doing so.

Totally MC. It's to the point, where I think I'm going to have to start just avoiding posts Biggie starts, just because every one (and especially the ones with exclamation points) makes me cringe. With people like you and Ivan he should totally know better by now.

I made very careful planning to keep one big cat here since my one kid loves 'em. I was completely stressing when the guy bailed on the other RTCxTSN here and blah. I just know what the end result is going to be for all of his fish. I've seen it too many times and this is on such an epic scale it really makes me sad for them.

You're much better at it than I am Ivan, I'm pretty sure for me it's the last I think I can say while staying civil about it.

Off the topic but the thread is anyway....nice new avatar saint! BSF it is your choice if you want advice...if you choose not to take it that is also your choice. If you keep making bad choices though and then try and justify them then people are going to unwilling to help out at some point and not take you serious.

But why help the fish store if it is going to hurt the fish? Let someone else come along that can properly house the fish!

All he's helping is the fish store's bottom line. There are no laws in MA on sale or ownership of RTCs or any other non native catfish. I don't know specifically for MA (and am to lazy to look it up) but even then the native ownership laws usually cover only threatened species.

The fish store lied to you, either because they knew you'd buy them. or wanted to have a sob story to make sure you bought them. Think about it, if RTCs are a problem, why is the TSN and the RTCxTSN perfectly okay when you bought them.

Either you're a complete moron or full of shit and given your other threads so far, I'm starting to lean towards the latter.

(edit - stupid typos)

I dont want to sound mean BSF but....
you should listen to everyone here, they are MUCH older and more experienced than you, there is nothing wrong with making mistakes or doing something backwards for a while but when some one comes along and tells you its flat out wrong and gives you good suggestions and you don't take them or think you can bend the rules, your in the wrong. everyone has to learn how to take responsibility for their actions and better sooner than later when a life/s is involved.
and I'm sorry man but the excuse that you are just helping the LFS does not carry any weight, and I think you know that.

please listen to these people, they know a hell of a lot more than you, me and your LFS combined.

Yeah I am a moron...thank you! And did I say MA I said my city's rules. You think you come on here and start yelling at me and call me a moron and you think I am going to sit here and be quiet. well NO!
