I own 3 Goldfish, the 2 orange are fair/common/feeders, they where won (ping pong ball in bowl game) at the County Fair in my area almost 1 year ago (end of Aug.) & were not even an inch long, now they are 4" +. The orange & white one came from W-mart & was in the feeder tank for 28 cents. It didn't act right, obliously was kinda sick (had dark brown spots on it)so I did the Mela-Fix treatment faithfully. After it was well, I added it to the tank w/ the other 2 & I use a little aquarium salt in their water (1 Tblspn per 10g which is half strenth of what is recommended) I also use stress coat faithfully. It had a longer tail & thought it was cool, so home we go. That one was right at 1", now it's almost 4". Here's a couple pics of them, If you look at the bottom pic, you can see the scars from the spots it had. Don't you just love W-mart?

Next summer, all 3 of them will be getting relocated. I am trying to get a pond dug before winter & if all goes well, come spring it will be getting filled w/ plants, rocks, water (of coarse) etc. Then when it gets warm enough, in go the fish

I have 1 gold fish. I bought 5 as feeders (before I knew it was bad) and he was the best looking out of the bunch. Now he lives in his own 10 gallon tank and eats like a pig.

I've got a few that have gotten pardoned over the years into the pond or a safe tank.. I use comets for a turtle clean up crew or for them to snack on and have had a few manage to live long enough that they grew larger than the turtles could chase down and eat.

All 3 of mine think that they are starving ALL the time! When they see me walking around in the room, they go crazy! They can also distinguish the difference between me & someone else. It's kinda funny!

Goldfish have good personalities.

They sure do! I've often heard peple call them Poppers, never understood why until these 3 fish got bigger. When I open their tank lid to feed them, they will jump up out of the water & make a POP sound, HTG!!!
I try not to open it all the way as I don't want them to jump completely out of the water onto the floor.
I've shown a couple people this & it is histerical to see 3 - 4" fish jumping up at you & making this popping sound.

You've got some picky goldfish then. The ones here will beg at anyone that comes within 5 feet.

I have 4 fancy goldfish, 4 comets, and a skibun (spelling) goldfish. I love them!
