Very attractive set-up. Rockwork is set up nicley, well-balanced. Is that giant val? I always try to keep a patch of val or two in my Malawi tanks. Don't especially care for plastic plants.

Yes, they are giant Vals...I was really kinda worried about adding them with the Cichlids since in the past they just tore up everything. After researching a little and asking a few others I found that with the thicker leaves (and a good diet of veggies) they should leave them alone....so far so good. I am thinking of adding some annubus too.

Wish I could do cichlids but my water is super soft and I don't feel like having to do a mix to keep the hardness and pH up. If I was to go through that trouble I may as well go SW

I've had mixed luck with Anubias in Malawi tanks over the years. Sometimes they do okay, sometimes they become hors' doeuvres.
