I am from Athabasca, AB Canada. Land of cold weather, currently our -23C (-9 F) feels like a heat wave compared to the -40C (-40F) we had for 2 weeks a while ago.
I have a yellow budgie (bird).
I have two 6 mouth old kitties, one is a common farm cat, and the other we are positive is either a maine coon or a maine coon cross - they get 22 pounds and 40"!
I also have fish (never would have guessed that would you?
)
55g community with many plants, various small tetras, two danio species, BN pleco fry, pair of balloon rams, Cherry shirmp, Snails (mystery snails, spixi snails, mini ramshorn snails - wish those minis would die)
65g goldfish tank with (14) 4"-5" goldfish (comets and commons, and two are black moors), 4 weather loaches (aka dojo loach), 2 are 8" and 2 are 4".
Yeah, I know, overstocked (Hey! Stocking police! over here!
) - but they spend the summer in the pond and more return to the LFS every fall so the tank isn't too crowded (ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate barely registering <5).
I used to breed guppies and did it for 8yrs.
I have spent well over a thousand hours researching, mainly fish I wish to add to my tanks
. I know more about the nitrogen cycle than most people care to hear about. I tend to learn about specific fish as I own the fish.
I am registered with more forums than I care to think about. Ones for certain fish (eg. shelldwellers.com), larger common ones where I can ask more noobish questions if I don't understand something (eg. monsterfishkeepers.com), and a local fish club - there seems to be one of those in every major city.
