| They're gorgeous!!!! What little pretties!
Got a soft spot on the one with the red spot on his head... I used to have one like it, just that he was a shubukin... had him for 4 years, he was tiny when we got him, in a tiny little aquarium, but a year on we moved and he got to be in a pond... there he thrived to a massive beautiful boy! Sadly he got finrot (added new fish without qurantining it *kicks self*, as I assumed the garden cetre we got the new fish from had already done that), and even though the others responded well to the treatment, he didn't. I cried for a week, and kept him in our freezer for a year until we bought our own house (we used to rent), so I could bury him in our garden. |

| Are you planning on keeping the koi with the goldfish? Have you tried it before... and if so, how did it work out?
When we had our first pond, we had four goldfish (2 came with the pond... or mud as it was more like. The owners of the house didn't know if there was any fish in it, they'd chucked two goldfish in when they build the pond, but didn't have a filter and had never changed the water! Grrrrrr! The day we moved in we set about cleaning it, and found two very large and very skinny goldfish... poor mites!), and I spotted ghost koi at a garden cnetre... I thought they were amazing, but was advised not to mix koi and goldfish, due to the rate the koi grow at, and it could result in the koi eating all the food, and the goldfish would end up with none. |

| I've never had any trouble with the faster goldfish and koi mixing. Wakins, Comets, and Shubunkins are fine so long as the food is small enough for them to eat it too.
If you make it a point to feed from the same spot all the time, slower goldfish can manage until the koi start getting bigger than them. I've had blind (eyes eaten out) fantails get along just fine with koi fry up to about 3 to 4 inches.
I wouldn't mix the bubble eye or other poofy eye variants in with the fast ones tho. Too much of a chance for popping. |
