Coupla pics of my green spotted puffers (Tetraodon nigroviridis) in my brackish tank.

55 Gallon tank with three GSPs and a knight goby (Stigmatogobius sadanundio). Want a coupla white cheek moray eels (Echidna rhodochilus) to round it out.

They cute, but do they play nice?

Most of the ones I've had here are overly nibbly to anything in with them.

They play nice. The goby takes back at 'em if they get nippy. Smile

Nice looking little guys! And you have a few MTS and ramshorns I see. Are those for lunch?

LOL, those were lunch. Every now and then I vacuum up the empty shells. They go through a ton of snails. Some of the MT burrow into the sand and perform cleanup duties after dark, but ya never see one during the day in this tank.

Empties. I'm runnin' a specific gravity of 1.013. The MTS survive, but I don't think the ramshorns could at that, even if they didn't get munched.

I had always heard that they were kinda scrappy among themselves, that they needed structure in their tank to break up lines of sight. But...I've also never seen that behavior first hand. The ones at my LFS always seem to get along (though I know you can't judge temperament by how they act in a shop, but I have spent a goodly amount of time in these shops through the years) Anyway...very cool sounding setup! Hope you can find those white cheek morays soon (and share pics with us!)

This is the only puffer species I have a lotta experience with, I have always seemed to have GSPs in my brackish tanks. I do need to add some more rocks, they do get a bit scrappy with each other and do need plenty of breaks in line of sight and nooks and crannies to retreat into. I've never had any major aggression issues, though. The aggression is far easier to control with layout in these guys than in mbuna.

The first time I had 'em I kept 'em with mollies until the mollies started gettin' nice semi-circles taken outta their fins, which was all of the next morning. Smile Since then I've always kept 'em with semi-aggressive fish that wouldn't hesitate to turn on 'em if the puffer nipped. I haven't had a fish with a semi-circle notch in its fins since.
