| LOL, I'm 8 hours behind Johannesburg. If it's noon there, it's 4 AM here. Mostlycichlids is the same, Dirtydawg10 is 6 hours behind. Don't know where ya are in relationship to Johannesburg, but there is a pretty big time difference. The pleco looks like one of the species sold as a good 'ol common plecos. He should be okay with the Africans, but I'd still watch when ya add the cichlids, and when he gets older he may pick off some of the fry if your cichlids breed. He won't intentionally hunt 'em, he'll just scarf 'em up if he stumbles across them. He could easily reach 10-14 inches long, and should be most active at night. Your cichlids (when ya get 'em) will be more active during the day, and he may disturb them at night when he's foraging, but this is more of a problem with delicate species like discus and shouldn't be much of an issue with Africans. The right eye, the first picture, looks like a bacterial infection, like MC said. The second eye looks like it has been damaged at some point, and doesn't seem to have as bad a film on it (though that may be a trick of the shading in the pic). Even if the film clears up, it's probable that the fish will never have complete vision out of that eye. Not that it will slow the fish down, he can still live a perfectly normal life. | Yep, I'll agree with what wyomingite said, not much more to add besides you may pass the info on to your friend so he can treat the fish. Tanks look good all in all! _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | One thing that no one picked up on, is that the goldie may be getting picked on by the pleco. I have a common here, that was fairly under fed when it showed up, and I put it in with a few larger comets.
The second night the pleco was here I saw it hit one of the comets and seemed to be trying to eat it, or at least it removed a bunch of scales. |

| AAH yep you are right saint a possibility for sure. A few months back my jags got real sick, almost died, almost had to move the sailfin pleco to keep it from trying to suck on the jags. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | Yep. They're usually just mellow, but if they get hungry enough there's trouble. |

| Hi guys The gold fish's eye is clearing up. I think it was bad water conditions. It's been in the tank now for one week after i bought the tank and cleaned it. The middle of the eye is clear. The outside is still cloudy. Thanks for all the advice you guys have given me. The goldfish will be send to my friend in this week. What African cichlits will you guys recommend for my tank?
