I love the look of this little fish. How would these guys mix with my tetras and 2 honey gourami in a 29 gallon tank? Are they too much of a bottom swimmer for me to add. My 5 neons stay closer to the bottom than middle. My 3 x-ray albino pristella are more middle, and the 2 honey gourami spend a lot of time near the bottom, too, although the honeys sleep nearer the top.

Would harlequin rasbora be better than the peacock gudgeon?

In about a week I have to add a bamboo shrimp and a reticulated hillstream loach from another tank.

So here's the setup for the 29 gallon:
2 honey gourami
5 neons
2 x-ray pristellas
______ peacock gudgeons or _______ harlequin rasbora or ______ CPD
1 bamboo shrimp
1 hillstream loach

Thanks for any opinions. I can't solely trust the LFS people, they tell me different things.

1nevrquits kept peacock gudgeons in his community tank. Nice little fish, I'd say a pair would fit in nicely with that set-up.

Your honey gouramis will spend more time near the top if ya have tall and/or floating plants. Maybe you do, and then there's another reason they're staying close to the bottom. IME, they stay away from the top when they feel insecure, and more cover at the top of the tank usually draws them up.

That makes sense! I just put in two bunches of taller plants this morning. I can already see them going higher behind the center one.http://www.servimg.com/image_preview.php?i=3&u=16126654][/url]
