| That bumble bee goby is a brackish fish. The puffer may try to take a bite or two out of those shrimp or some of the other fish. Definitely an interesting mix you have in there though. |

| whether or not the bumble bee goby is brackish or not is the topic of much debate, and the pea puffers dont bug anything, they wouldnt even eat the tiny snails I put in the tank for them |

| Whether or not the bumblebee goby is brackish or not is species dependent. It's not so much a debate of whether they are or aren't brackish; rather, it is a debate on which species ya have. My head hurts too bad to elaborate, but in a nutshell certain species are more common in brackish than others, and some are totally fresh. Of the nine species of Brachygobius, B. doriae, B. nunus and B. xanthozonus were the only ones offered in the trade for years, but B. sua, B. aggregatus and B. xanthomelas frequently show up on internet retail sites now. The first three species are very difficult to distinguish. B. xanthozonus differs from the other two by the number of anal fin rays (one spine and eight rays) and the first black band behind the pectoral fins is generally broader and nearly encircles the body completely. It will not survive in freshwater for any length of time. There is still some debate whether B. doriae and B. nunus are indeed separate species. Both have one anal fin spine and seven rays, and the first black band rarely encircles the body completely. Both can be kept in fresh or brackish, but do best in brackish. Warning, diagnostics based on the color of dorsal and anal fins are not accurate! All three species show some variety in dorsal and anal fin color. Anal fin rays are the most reliable method without dissecting the fish. B. aggregatus (sometimes refferred to as "schooling bumblebee goby") has one anal spine and six rays. The golden color is usually not as bright and the bands are often broken up, giving the impression of a mottled or spotted fish. It is a freshwater fish. I have no experience with B. sua or B. xanthomelas, so haven't bothered to memorize the morphometrics and have never researched their habitat or actual water requirements. So my nutshell turned into somewhat of an elaboration, and now my head really hurts. WYite _________________ One can never have too many fish tanks.

| Way to take one for the team Wyite! Good explanation I learned something totally new there as I have never really made an attempt to read or learn about these species! Whatever it is I hope it is working out well for you! _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
