| Hi Everyone
My name is bill and I am new around here. Im 37 and currently live in springfield, ma
Currently I have a 75+ mixed reef and a 30 fresh community tank, Reef is only lightly stocked been running about 18 months the tropical-fresh has been running in one stage or another for around 5 yrs.
I have have keeping tropical-freshwater community fish off and on for over 30 years.
Looking to do something alittle different while I learn more about what I am keeping. Still consider myself a beginner on the salt-side and only slightly more then a beginner on the fresh side. I am always learning and looking to learn something new or a different way of doing things.
Current projects include, these are actually still in the planning stages still
A basement remodel- to include a fish room A planted Tank Either a cichlid or Brackish tank (possibly both)
Would love to hear from anyone local to me say 15-20 miles around
Thanks Bill

| Hi Bill...welcome to FWM! I'm not far from you at all. Just over the border in CT. I head up to Springfield about once a month for a local fish club meeting. Maybe you'd be interested in attending sometime.

| Welcome to FWM, glad to have you. Sounds like you have a couple of nice tanks there. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

I only know of one club in the springfield area, meets the 1st tuesday of the month, I am going to try and make a meeting or maybe a few I do this as a family hobby and have little kids so the time is alittle late but I havent ruled it out.

thanks, tanks are ok the more I learn the worse I think they look. Ultimate goal is to have all the filtatration be done as naturally as possible cant do much to change the fact of artificial light and the use of heaters but at the same time try to reduce energy consumption while still maintaining the proper levels in each tank.

Always been instrested in a few different types this being one, and now after having the reef setup alittle while and dispelling some misconceptions this does seem to be possible.
But dont expect things to move to quickly, I do alot of research before I even startup a tank and even then proceed very slowly and when ever possible I do a non-live start and let things move at there own pace.
Anyone can throw money at a problem, I try to let things move to the next level when they are ready to move and hopefully I have prepared myself to handle the responsbility that comes with that next level |

Yup...it is PVAS (Pioneer Valley Aquarium Society). It is a good group and we do meet the first tues. of every month. No pressure I just thought I'd mention it to you.
I like your attitude about setting up tanks. You can never do too much research before hand. |

Great to talk with someone that goes to the meetings, I have been in contact with linda and was informed that this isnt a "forum" that the club uses for during the month talks, discussion or anything
Found it alittle odd considering how much information that is to be had and can be exchanged. As well as in group trading and sales that can be done during the meetings that some may not even know that is being looked for. |

| I have talked to Linda about this site and they do have it linked to their website at PVAS but sometimes it takes a while for people to come check out new things. I've only been attending meetings there for a little over a year and the link to this site has only been up for a few months. |

Hi Grumpa,
Seem to, I check in here at least a few times a day. The posting is alittle slow.
Hopefully I can help fix some of that when I learn alittle more and start proceeding further with my plans and have like a million and 2 questions on this or that and maybe even some of them.
Although, was thrown alittle of a curve ball that may become a small wrinkle in the planning but at least I am still in the planning stages of things..
