FUN! and MORE FUN!

How I started my day, at 5:40 this morning. To give ya an idea, that tower on the right side of the pic in the first link is roughly 85' tall. I was app. 50' to the west of that, directing hose streams. The first link is later on in the event, the pics in the second link are a lot closer to how it looked when I first started dealin' with it. I was only directin' things alone for the first 5 minutes plus or minus, but 5 minutes seems like eternity when yer lookin' up at 80'-100' flames.

Nobody hurt, well, one guy twisted his ankle afterward on oily stairs. But nothin' serious. We were lucky it was shift change and Maintenance hadn't shown up to work yet.
A lotta nerves frazzled, though. Smile

"FUN" and "MORE FUN" in his first post are links.

Glad to hear no one was hurt. How's the cleanup going?

Slow. Still cleaning up and purging the unit, draining it and gettin' it ready for repair. Initial estimates underestimated the amount of damage. Guessin' the crude unit will be down three weeks. I get to work 6 days a week now, for the next three weeks. WHEEEEEEEEE!

Infuego!

Your new work schedule sort of blows, eh? Hopefully you'll get a fat overtime check though.

O.T.? I'm salaried. I don't get O.T. Should get some comp time out of it, though.

Anyways, here's another pic I got my hands on. With vehicles in it for better perspective. Seconds after it started.

Wowza. I do things with pyrotechnics on a fairly regular basis, but at close range I might have needed a fresh pair o' undies after dealing with that.
