| the grey one with the black stripe, its hard to get a picture of it as it likes to follow me around the tank so I did the best I could. And no the water isnt dirty, there is something on the glass, took me a few days to figure out why no matter how many w/c I did it was still mercy. it was sold to me as a Red Empress at under an inch, now at about 4 inches I can clearly see it isnt a Red Empress at all. I only want an ID because it is in with my africans right now and I dont know if it should be. |

| Looking at it again it does look a lot like Vieja maculicauda (Black Belt Cichlid). _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

| Is that a red spot on the operculum? And is the tail red? She looks to be 'bout 4" long (6-8 cm)? Thinkin' Vieja or a former Vieja species, possibly an immature Paratheraps synspilum (Vieja synspila), a.k.a. redhead cichlid.
