I bought 2 new Striped Rapheal Catfish. They have been fighting, my first has been out of the picture, just chilling with the spotted rapheal. They lock fins, they lock them down on eachother. They will lock fin on fin and circle, reminds me of cichlid courtship. Any help? both have torn pectorals.

How big are they? There needs to be a lot of caves and territory for them to claim. If there are not enough hiding places you are going to have trouble. They also require a good footprint....what size tank do you have them in? If they are doing damage to one another I would move them ASAP.

They seem to have calmed down, the trouble maker that starts the fights has settled down and spends all his time, even at night, protecting his area. The other two are best buds and swim around with eachother. See my first alot more, older guy has been at the LFS so long he's used to people so he's out and about. They all are small, biggest is 4", smallest is 2.5", and my first one is 3". Smallest is the most territorial, biggest is very active. It's in my 29. I know this won't do long term but, they must grow slow since they live 20+ years! I am sure I'm getting a 4', either buying one or persuading my aunt to give me hers. That should be able to hold three 8" catfish later on. No more fighting though. Its just been an over territorial cat. If I have anymore problems, I can exchange him.
