| Well I have a 100gal tank and wanted to know if I can split the hose into 2 for both the in and out take hoses. The reason being is that I want to have a filter on both sides of the tank. I plan on useing a tee connector as the connector and then buy another intake and outlet tube. So my question is that is it posible to spit the single intake and outlet to 2 intakes and 2 outlets without losing power? |

| Never split the intake ( don't see a reason you couldn't) but I split the output all the time to drive Pro 60 Bio-wheels without any problem what so ever

| I would think it would put more drag on the filter....By splitting the intake, I think the filter would work harder by trying to pull more water in. I would think it would be harder to prime and get started with a dual intake setup. I guess you could try it as it wouldn't cost too much to do the modification, see how it works. Splitting the out side would be fine but not to sure about the intake side. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. What do you me priming it? And is it bad if it has more drag and works harder?
Well about to go buy the parts and my plan is that Im just going to buy like a 6 ft hose, 2 tee connectors and another set of intake and outlet. And from these plans I think you guys know where Im going with it. |

| I agree with MC that it could cause the pump to work harder, that could cause it to break down. I also don't see how this is a benefit to do, the filter will still only circulate so many gph ( unless your modification reduces it). I would just put the inlet on one side and the out let on the other. _________________ |

| Well just setup everything and everything looks good. No leaks, but one thing is that its not as fast and its not as slow. Is that good? Also guess what people I think I have a male and female oscar because I just put in the new oscar and the both are playing and swimming togther. |

| I still wouldnt mess with the intake...you could end up burning up your filter or working it harder than necessary. The only benefit to splitting the out side is you will get more movement throughout the entire tank. Do you have pics of the modification?
Just cause the Oscars are swimming together don't mean you have a Male/Female. Watch them for any aggression now and in the next months. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | Nice looking tank! It seems like an odd shape for a 100gal. Is it a custom tank? The depth seems very shallow and I'm just wondering if it will be tight for the O's once they get a little bigger. |

| If I remember correctly some do think it is a factor to HITH, but that it's due to cheap and poorly rinsed carbon. It is suggested that you use good quality carbon and rinse it well. I think the main cause is a poor diet and there is also a parasite that if I remember correctly is thought to cause it.
Nice pics, keep us updated on the fish and you filter set up. _________________ |

| There are lots of theories about HITH....none of which IMO have any scientific backing. IMO poor water quality and poor diet will cause HITH 10x faster than using carbon.....but then again that is just my own theory. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | I see. I was wondering what kind of bottom feeder can I put with the oscar because they eat the krill and the spit back the scales of the krill. |
