Would Gorilla Glue be good to glue rocks together?

I want to know. I am think of it for glueing a cave of rocks, for the cons I'm getting. Any thing?

NO DO NOT USE IT!!!!! Your local pet store should have some silicone to use just ask them. They will be glad to help ya.

k, I was asking. My papa has Silicone that he uses to fill in leaks in the pond. Is it toxic when wet, or should it dry first?

The aquarium silicone is a complete rip off. You can use any 100% silicone that has NO (NONE, ZERO, IIE, NIEN, NYET) additives, antifungal stuff or anything else.

I've found it as the "economy" caulk at walmart. I've used it to patch many a tank with no health issues.

In theory Gorilla Glue *should* work. it cures waterproof, but I've never tried it myself, but a friend of mine really likes it, since it expands when it dries.

You can always use clay flower pots for caves too, if you're worried about glue and don't want to stack slate.

Bingo. I've not used "aquarium silicone" in years. Ya get the same stuff at a department store or hardware store for 1/2 the price or less. As saint said though, it's gotta be 100% silicone with NO additives!!!

I'd say a big no on the Gorilla Glue. I looked at the label of the stuff today at Lowe's. It's a cyanocacrylate-based adhesive. I'd be concerned of the potential for leaching toxins, specifically cyanide, into the water.

My friend who uses the gorilla glue, uses it on coral fragments to attach them to little stands to grow them out. He uses some other brand of gel cyanoacrylate glue as well (Loctite maybe). I think glue use depends on the coral or what the coral gets attached to.

Anyway, with marine stuff being as expensive as it is, if there was a problem with leeching toxins I wouldn't think they'd use the stuff. That being said, the coral chunks I've seen him glue to things are itty bitty, so it may just be a volume issue.

I got rid of the idea cause the silicone kept getting messed with by brother. I just used some old coral ornament and turned them side ways.

Interesting. Must be okay then, but it's not what I'd have chosen for gluin' frags.

Poking around online it seems to be pretty common as far as glue goes.

I have no idea (and didn't see) anything about the toxicity of it but enough to hold a frag in place say 2cc tops, in 55g of water is going to be pretty dilute.

What sort of glue would you use Wyite? Like a two part epoxy or something?

Never really thought 'bout it. Just an observation that when lookin' for an adhesive to use in an aquarium, I wouldn't have even thought of using anything with a cyanoacrylate base, is all. It must cure non-toxic and leaching must be negligible, 'cuz I can't see anyone into corals deep enough to be fraggin' risk harmin' the frag with a toxic glue.

I mentioned it today to my friend.

He took a class on propagating corals about a year or so ago. The person teaching the class always had trouble with getting leather corals to stay put on the frag discs with the usual super glue/epoxy methods, so was experimenting and found a specific variety of Gorilla Glue that cures waterproof and expands a lot like that insulation foam in a can.

For hard corals, two part epoxy works better most of the time, but there has been times when gel super glue has gotten the job done.
