So today was Mains ultimate yard sale at a local harness racing track. There were over 200 tables filled with great items. I picked up a set of X-country ski's for $20, canon EOS300V (which I thought was a digital but it's film) for $20 and to top it off a 70 or 75 gallon compleat setup that has never been used for $100!!!!

With this new tank I promised my girlfriend that I would break down a tank but I'm actualy taking down 3. I'm breaking down my 2 55g and my 20g high. My oscars will be moved into the new tank from one of the 55g's. The other one has my JD's which I'm going to part ways with; its just not the same with out my male who was my favorite. The 20g only houses platies and I'm going to trade them into a LFS.

With all of these changes my power bill should drop below the $150 mark and I can start saving my cash for a house. I've also learned that if I want to make money from breeding my fish I need to start breeding exotic fish and hard to keep fish like discus.

Yeah but it is still fun to breed them...the enjoyment of the process is worth it. And hell a free food supply for your larger fish.

If you're planning on selling them it may not be a bad idea to do some research too, see what's selling well, or even better see what was selling well and is now out of season.

Like, the beginning of summer, for example, baby arowana were selling for 6 to 10 bucks each. After that initial breeding splurge died down, they went up to 30 to 50 (wholesale prices) and in stores they were going for 90 to 125.

I do love the porcess of breeding them. I also get attached.

Good call saint. I'll have to do some research next time.

I hear you on the getting attached part. The goldfish/koi collection always grows by one or two every summer, as there's always one that's just interesting enough or just fancy enough that it doesn't get used for food.

This summer, there's two goldies with no orange at all, and I ended up getting attached.
