| Here is the one holding...  The suspected father although not 100% sure it is a male...Sciaenochromis fryeri (Taiwan Reef) The father could also be a Strawberry Peacock. I thought I had an all male tank!  I will be moving her as soon as the eggs hatch in to fry...right now there is a Female Kenyi in the holding tank healing up some wounds from a rowdy spawn attempt in another tank.

| No they never got fertilized...I did notice yesterday they were dancing around again though. I was their first time so I am sure they will do it again.

| Thanks, she is sometimes silvery but in this pic (full Breeding) she took on a brown color!

| Hey you looked...lol lol I love them but they are aggressive little buggers. Hard to keep the right mix happy all the time.

| I went to a LFS last week and saw 3 tanks filled with these beautiful africans! When I moved my hand infront of the tanks those little buggers followed it where ever it went. I cant tell you what kind they were because they were all labeled mixed african cichlids But I can tell you that they were striped with black and white I think. Do you know if theres a standared african mix the LFS get? |

| If it is in a tank labeled "mixed" they are likely hybrids of some sort.

| Hummm thats interesting. I didnt know that africans could easly cross breed. After flipping through my encyclopedia of aquarium and pond fish I found three possible matches. The first was a match Pseudotropheus socolofi or Eduardi I remember because it was blue except for this small yellow dot an the end of its tail. and the striped one coule ether be Melanochromis Auratus or Julidochromis regani.  sorry. |

And also if the fry are guaranteed hybrids why bother keeping them? |

Not sure if I quite understand? If you are talking to me the female posted is a Sciaenochromis fryeri (f) the fry would likely be from the pair I posted! I do have success with keeping mbuna with Peacocks although they are only there because the Mbuna tank is too rowdy for them. The mbuna in there are Yellow labs other than that it is a Hap/Peacock tank! Also the OB/BB Peacocks are usually a Mbuna/Peacock mix. The stock has been moved around a lot but I finally have a stock that works out very well!
I would never tell someone new to fish keeping to try and keep mbuna and peacocks together. Doing so would be setting them up for possible failure.

| Yeah I agree, I have about eight Female Ice Blues at the moment.
