| Canisters are nice and you can't really over filter... _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

| Additional filtration certainly could help. What size tank is your HOB on and what is the GPH rating? What is your water change schedule? |

| right now Ive got a topfin 60 in my 55 gallon tank its rated for 300 gph. If i were to get a canister.... any suggestions? It seems like the Marineland Multi-Stage Canister Filters are the cheapest. Im looking for something under 150 + tax |

| A bit more filtration definitely wouldn't hurt. As far as a canister goes I have heard good things about the "XP" filters but have never used one personally. |

| XP's are excellent I have two currently running, a Rena xp2 or xp3 would complement your current filter well. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

| Best canister in my opinion is the XP's by Rena. They make the water so clear and they dont cost an arm and a leg. I have many of them and I love all of them. I will take them over an ehiem any day. I will never buy another fluval if you paid me. Hands down the worst filters out there. I have an FX5 and from the second I set it up I knew it was a stupid purchase. For qa 55gal I would not go with less than an XP3. This will give you way more than enough filtration. EDIT- oh sorry i did not see you are going with the XP3 great choice you will love it |

| Well ladies and gents I think im finally cycled. Its been 3 days now with reading of 0 ammonia / 0 Nitrites / below 20 nitrates.... I couldnt be more excited and the tank is coming together. I lost all 3 aceis ( 2 I put out of their misery 1 died on its own ) The water is clearing up and im buying that canister this week . I have made some changes to my stock though.... Right now Ive got the 4 labs / 4 red zebra / I think with everyones consent I will add some Demasoni Cichlid maybe 3? Im not sure and 1 Electric Blue Johanni Cichlid I know the electric blue is pretty aggresive if you get 2 males together but will 1 be cool in the tank? I need something with stripes lol |

| Great job grays...good to here. As far as stock the labs are the least aggressive, as long as you have lots of caves and rocks for them to retreat I think your planned stock will be ok, I usually recommend a larger tank for more aggressive Mbuna. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | I think we covered Rena is awesome. I agree. I have some ancient fluval stuff here, was this a recent purchase Jackson? Have the new ones gone to crap? I've been pretty happy with the old ones. |
