Yes. Yes I did. It's pure awesome and pure evil all at the same time.
Did you ever get those books as a kid where you bought packs of stickers to fill in all the pictures? This is my first Aqualog book and seriously that's the very first thing I thought of. The last dozen or so pages are reserved to collect stickers to fill out any more plecos that are discovered.
Also. it's volume 24. There's a big 24 on the spine of the book. It *taunts* me since I know how much it would cost to at least get from 1 on up so they were all in nice order on my bookshelf.
The contents of the book are really quite impressively nice. I have some other fish id books, but the pictures were all fairly clinical. I find it easier to id fish from pictures if the fish in the picture is in a more natural state. Granted the odds of me seeing even a fraction of these guys out there is pretty slim. Given the way the L numbers were done, I always knew that there were a lot of plecos out there, but I don't think I was prepared for just how many there are specifically.
Special bonus with this book is most of the plecos in the book have a picture top down, and suckers on the glass. Really getting the detail of the mouth and all too. There were hardly any drawings at all, that I noticed which is another pet peeve of mine, I want pictures damn it.
All in all, I knew diddly about Aqualog books going into it. The price is a little steep, from what I saw looking at other volumes on Amazon, but at least with this book the quality is there. (I don't want to speak for other volumes, since I haven't seen them)
