PostSubject: New Filter   Mon Jun 22, 2009 12:36 pm

About a week ago my filter on my platty tank died on me. I was tired with the old stand by's (wisper and AquaClear) so I decided to poke around on the net and find a reliable filter for a reasonable price. After some searching I found the Bio System 25 Power filter plus OXY Surface skimmer on Foster and Smith. I was reading over the schematics and the reviews and decided why not it's cheeper than a new AC and I need to get a few fish and chinchilla things anyway so I added it to my order. I received my order today and set up the filter an hour ago, I can already see an improvement in my water clarity. I'll keep everyone updated on how this new filter turns out.

Looks like a nice filter and holds the bio3 cartridges which I use in my Penguins and Whispers.

Interesting. Shape wise it looks looks like some of the newer tetra models.

    Good luck with it.

Update: Doing my first water change I found that I have to clean off the filter media every time I change the water because so much crap was sucked up by the filter. With my old filter I had to clean off the media every 3rd or 4th water change which makes me think about how much stuff was being left behind by the old filter. So far I like what I'm seeing and if things continue to go well I might do a flip on all of my filters.
