He's a big fellow! He eats a live mouse about every seven days. We've tried him on crickets and he wants nothing to do with them. He's in a twenty long.

    Lookin good.

If you're only feeding him mice, (and if you're not doing this already) he should get a vitamin and calcium supplement like every third or fourth feeding. Mice are high in protein but not a lot else.

He usually lets the mouse run around for a couple of minutes to size him up before he pounces. It probably last about ten minutes before there's no tail showing. I don't know why but he always eats the mouse head first. Looks kinda funny with the tail hanging out.lol

Every other mouse gets dipped in a vitamin supplement powder. I'll have to check the calcium content though never really thought about it. We got him from a good LFS and they recommended the powder we bought. Thanks for telling me that. I would hate for something to happen to him. I just don't think she could handle it. She just lost her bunny of six years.

Yay! It's good to hear of pet stores that actually have a clue.

Pixie frogs, Pyxicephalus adspersus, are in the same weight class as yours, and they seem to really enjoy the occasional minnow or comet in their water if you want to try a little variety.

He doesn't live in water. He lives in moist peat. She puts a big bowl of water in there every couple of days that he gets in and poops but as soon as he's done he gets out and buries himself like in the first picture. How would she go about feeding him the fish?

Ah, the way mine is set up is half and half. There's a 3ish gallon tub that fits in the tank that I use for frogs, that has a small filter. That way they always have water if they want it, and it's easy enough to dump if they make it really cruddy. Toads seem to be the worst offenders on that though.

Bit more challenging if you don't keep water in there all the time. Wink

If I told her she could feed him live fish she would be in there with here tweezers dangling it in front of him.lol
She has five fire bellys too and they wouldn't eat the pellots she bought for them. She started putting the pellots in the water and taking a straw to kinda wiggle them around and low and behold they started eating them. They are in a half water half land set up. I've offered to buy her some guppies to put in there but she refuses. I did give her some ramshorn snails and they are living confortably in there. Or so it seems. She's had them for about 3 1/2 years. I will have to get her to take some pictures soon.

    She's a frog nut!!!lol
