PostSubject: Have to say good bye to some of my fish   Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:18 am

Well I'm going to have to say good bye to some of my cichlids, 3 to be exact. I have to find homes for one of my female GT's (Lucky), One of my male JD's (Max) and finaly one of my new additions my Green Sev (Nemo).

I was on the computer earlyer this morning when I heard splashing. At first I thought it was my pleco being a butt head again but then I heard it a seccond time and I was like what the hell so I got up and went into my fish room. I looked at my pleco to see if he was scaring the other fish. He wasn't doing anything and them I heard another splash and I turned to my CA/SA tank to find my two oscars kicking the Shiz out of my GT. I looked at my Terror and saw that one of her dorsal fins was annihilated! It looked like a stick figures hand, the right side of her was Gray and her right eye was scratched up. So I yelled at my oscars and said "Stop it or I'm going to fillet you" and oddly enought they stopped. I dont have any extra tanks lying around because I have MTS so I grabbed a 30g Rubbermade tote and filled that with water. I scooped out the terror and put it into the tote. I added a heater, a fliter, Pimafix and Melafix to help aid the healing process. Im so bumed.

The reason why I have to rehome the other 2 is because the JD is in the tank with the oscars which BTW thought it would be cool to be a boy and girl oscar and decide to pair up Very Happy :angspmd: and I was going to put the sev into the tank with the others but now I cant. This sux alot! I can only blame myself of this because I should have gotten a bigger tank or not have gotten all of these fish. I forgot to say what size the tank was its a 72g with 2 oscars, Jd, GT, Redhead and 2 cons. Way over stocked! :angspmd: :angspmd:

Sometimes it take something like this to learn from. It will make you a better fish keeper down the road for sure. Sucks you have to get rid of them but at leats you are being responsible.

If they are pairing up to breed you seriously lucked out. I've seen oscar pairs slaughter their entire tank off first. They gots them some issues.

You're a bit far but if you need a hand, they're welcome here.

I'm going to try to rehome them here first but if I cant I'll send them to you.

I think they are starting to get verry aggressive. I might have caught this early

Watching Oscars breed is a very cool thing to watch, but I'd hate to be in the tank with them. Wink

Watch your hands too if you need to mess around in the tank. They'll get just as mean to that handfish that's in there with them. I picked up some super cheap neoprene gloves at I want to say Target and they're pretty good for dealing with getting nomed on.

Woah! That explains why the larger one trys to attack my hand when I do a grav vac! It feels like someone is rubbing 120 grit sand paper on my knuckles. One day he/she attack my hand 3 times and I was like WTF is up with this fish!
