Blue Gene...only way to get a Electric Blue Jack Dempsey is to cross a BG (blue gene) and and EB (electric blue). _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die".

| Cool
so the blue gene is the one that is not a cross and the electric blues are?
What will happen if 2 EBJD's breed? Or can that not happen? |

| Two Electric blues can breed but they can not produce viable fry. You need the blue gene (regular Jack Dempsey but carries a blue gene). There is a debate about Electric Blues being hybrid or not hybrid....My belief from what i have read is they are not hybrids. I have other posts on the forum but my hope is I will get a EBJDxBGJD pair. I would also like to get a BGJD pair to keep the gene going and sell some. I am also getting 4 Gold Gene Jack Dempseys in hopes of getting a pair either GGJDxEBJD or a GGJD pair. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. | Wow, that's a beautiful setup, Paul, and I love those fish! What am I looking at in the 2nd and 3rd pictures? The lighter colored dempsey, is that the gold dempsey? (never seen a young one) Beautiful fish, whatever it may be! |

| Thank You, the last two are Blue Gene Jack Dempseys I just got a couple days ago about 1.5 inch size. Basically regular Jack Dempseys that carry the blue gene. _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Breed the two together and you get Electric Blue Jack Dempseys! _________________ "There he goes - one of God's own prototypes - a high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
