Well I was looking at the electric blues today and noticed that I must have bought one with only one pelvic fin. I noticed he/she does not have one of her pelvic fins. I pulled the net out to take a closer look and there is no nub or abraision there indicating it ever had a fin to start....Anyone else have a fish like this? I have never has a fish with a missing fin unless it was done by another fish damaging it. Kinda makes me mad it is one of my EBJD's but I guess it will just be a unique fish.

Might just be a genetic deformity like 6 fingers on one hand, webbed toes or Andy Dick

    *laugh* Andy Dick.

I've had one or two that have had some genetic deformities of the dorsal, but haven't seen anything with the pelvic that isn't damage from someone/something else. So long as it's getting around okay I wouldn't sweat it though.

If its genetic, could be passed on to offspring, though from what Mark was sayin' an EBJD x EBJD spawn is likely doomed to failure. Wonder if he's seen it in any EBJD fry he's raised or has ever heard of it with EBJDs; wouldn't be the first time a deformity went hand in hand with a desirable trait.

I was kind of surprised about that, for as common as the regular JDs are that the EBJDs were so freakishly inbred. I never looked into it but I'm guessing the special blue genotype for them was a fairly isolated mutation?

But yea, Mark can correct me if I got it wrong but from what I had read about them, pairing EBJD with EBJD pretty much guaranteed egg fail.

You need to pair a EBJD with a regular JD to get JDs with the blue genotype then breed those JDs (I guess they'd be BGJDs) to a EBJD to get more of them.

I know that to get the albino traits in some Sliders the breeders pair the offspring back with the parents. I'm assuming it be the same with the EBJDs unless you can find someone to trade with.

I wonder what the morality rate for them is. Guess it explains why they're stupid expensive even on the wholesale lists.
