| Slider nails should not be cut and don't need to be either. There are veins in there and with them being in the water, it can get good and infected.
How long are her nails anyhow?
Female sliders have fairly short stubby nails. Males have very long curved nails. Is the nails in your pic been trimmed recently? Depending on how much you cut back you may actually have a male.
Couldn't tell from the pic either, does she have a spot to get out and bask? |

| I've never heard the color of the stripes thing before, but coloration has nothing to do with sex. Long nails, and a long tail is normally a male. Long tail as in when the tail is curled up along the shell, it can almost touch the back leg. The other thing to check for is where the cloaca (or butt hole ) is on the tail. If the cloaca is far from the shell that's another indicator of it being a male. If those are the nails cut, I'm leaning towards you having a male. If you flip him/her over and take a pic of the tail I can probably tell you for sure. |

| That second shot would have been perfect were it an inch lower. But given the length, and the shape from the third shot, you got yourself a male. |
