Favorite Fish: Dano's, Tetra's and sharks though I have to wait until I have room for a 250- gallon tank plus in my room for my sharks as I want 6 bala sharks, live plants snail or two, and an algae eater and pleco once I stop killing them.

Yep the shrimp have started to turn yello now. their whole bodies are this color. I wish I knw for sure it was a parasite that I couldn't treat as I woud flush them all. But as long as the tank is doing ok I am nog doint anything. :angspmd:

Ghost shrimp will often change color based on what they're eating. If I feed the ones hear goldfish remnants (mmm chunky) they'll get a pink color to 'em.

I know ghost shrimp are nothing but a food for other things here for me, though so I kinda treat them as having two states, dead or edible. Wink

There are some shrimp that are far more sturdy and may do better for you. Crayfish for example seem to only be able to die at the hands of large turtles and I know they have some prettier ones of those.

Just have to be careful on whatever it is since some will eat smaller fish if they can catch 'em.

Well I would buy that theroy but their whole body is turning colors, and there is nothing missing in my tank, so alls they are eating is the fish food I drop to the bottom for them and the one fish they and they other fish managed to kill weeks ago. It was a glofish and yes believe it or not the dang shrimp glew under irridessent black/blue light. (the good light)

Sigh- I am afraid to get my loaches or my pleco's because they keep dying in that tank. My best guess is it is from eating infected shrimp but infected with what and how to get rid of it.

Are they still dying? I say this because when I kept ghost shrimp some turned a different color besides clear. I had some with blue hues to them and some with red and even some that were slightly orange.
If I were you I would freeze the shrimp to euthanize and strip the tank down and start it fresh.

Yea, the whole shrimp turn a color, not just the belly area. Goldies are high in red pigment, perhaps the food your feeding is high in something yellow.

I honestly don't think they're sick, but Kygirl is right, if you're that worried about it start over.

I know my Dano's (spelling) can't eat them but I am suddenly down to 9 from 10 and 2 look like they have chronic waisting disease (form of mad cow deer get where they waist away to nothing Macaws also get this but it's not a form of mad cow with the birds) My 2 Dano's look pretty bad, and one of my yellow glofish looking pretty freekishly thin.

I just got a smaller tank but still large 30 gallon, we have it set up and are working to stablize it. Once we can safely move the fish I will be moving them. I don't want to move any of the water with them as we want to drain, euthenize shrimp and make sure we have them all. We will wash plants which are all fake, and logs, rocks all fake and rock to make sure there are no EGGS left behind.

What is a safe way to transport fish with out using the water from tank one to bag them, set them down in, let them reach the same temp ect, water in the bag, and out they go to their new home? If they weren't such expensive fish- $5 a pop for the glofish I would just take them over in a net and I may have to do that anyway because I am worried about what is wrong with these shrimp.

Sounds like internal parasites with your fish. If it is you will be transporting the parasites with the fish. Also you will be stressing the fish by moving them. I would leave them in the tank they are in and I would treat the tank for parasites. I've never had to do this with my fish but I will see if I can find you a treatment method for it. Unless one of these wonderful people here can help before I find it. Wink

    thank you.

Why is it that people you don't know will go out of their way to help you, but when you suggest something to a family member that is for all the siblings - A 4 day retreat for siblings only fully paid for by me- someone has to see it as something it's not and make trouble. I think I will stay with friends you can pick them! LOL

I knew I had pictures of my ghost shrimp somewhere. Look at the bottom of the plastic plant. You can clearly see the blue this shrimp turned about a month after I got them.

You know, after thinking about this I believe you should strip the tank. I also believe you could try some red cherry shrimp. A lot of people are breeding them now so the chances of you getting hardier stock would be great. I've been wanting some for months!!! Everytime I get money saved something comes up of more importance.(tetras, bettas, etc......)lol I will see if I can find a picture to show you how awesome these shrimp look.
