 Metriaclima Greshakei

So I was looking at my fish last night during feeding. Before I re-scaped the tank there was fish hiding up in the filters and what not. Well re-scaping helped 100% and was on my to do list sense I moved. I had a few fish die in there due to lack of rockwork and hiding spots, thats what made me say it was time. Anyway to make a long story short the Greshakei are going crazy spawning. My ratios are way off but they are still going crazy. I have three or four males and four or five males, would have to go and actually count to be exact....Anyway looked in last night and all four females have their mouths full of eggs. On top of that the female Kenyi, one yellow lab and two auartus are also full of eggs. Not sure if it was the rocks or the magic powder I added last water change!

Rescaping and waterchanges seem to be two common triggers in getting Malawians to spawn.

Congrats and like WYite said have fun getting the girls out.

Well, I will likely let nature take on it's course. With that much rock work a lot of the fry will either get eaten. Before I moved I had them in the 120g with a lot of rock work. I had about 100 fry that were getting to the 1/4-1 inch size. When I took the larger rocks out they got picked off pretty quickly. Anyway, thought I would share the story....I just have never had one species with all the females of the group holding.
