Well I was hesitant to post this cause I don't have pics but I picked up a couple more Cichlids. I got a couple female Convicts (don't want babies) and a Texas. All are just 3 inches or so but very nice looking. The cons are of excellent quality and the Texas has excellent markings already. I Moved the Oscar out of the 120 to the 125 with the Jags. That seems to be working out for now. The plan is to get the Convicts large enough to go in with the Jags. The Texas will stay in the 120 with the Others. I am going to be getting rid of my largest JD as I am bored with him...he is the most laid back lazy ass I have ever seen although very pretty....

I got the Cons because I miss the ones I had and miss having the HRP's I had....I have always wanted to try and keep a Texas, I think they are beautiful....never have kept one. Anyway....I will get pics up, might take a couple weeks with all I have going on but I was itching to tell you whats been going on here lately.

Well I look forward to seeing pics when you get then. Sounds like you are very happy with the new Cichlids.

Cool beans, MC. I had a Texas for quite a while. Fit in with just 'bout anything. His temperament was similar to the JDs I've had, never really started crap but was willin' to finish it if he got pushed around. This was a sharp lookin' fish, different than any of the other CA cichlids ya regularly see. The background on him was a yellowish-ochre color, with silver iridiscence rather than the blue or blue-green so often seen in the Cichlasomines. He really contrasted with the dempsey and salvini I had him with.

Neato. It's the first I've looked up the Texas ones. They're pretty. Curious how they ended up being called Texas though. Smile

Thanks, I plan on moving out the Africans soon....their tank has become a death tank due to ratios being off and adult size. I am sick of their bullshit....Gonna make the 75g a permanent home for more large New Worlds.

Didn't know they were up that high. I searched texas, found the latin, then I checked 'em out in my one book, (old burgress one) that said they're from Mexico. Had I thought about it for another three seconds, I most likely would have asked the same question never occurring to me at the time that Texas borders Mexico. Wink

Now I wonder if they call 'em Mexican Cichlids in Mexico. Smile

LOL. Teasin' ya. Natural range actually ends not too far north of the Rio Grande. They have been introduced in reservoirs and watersheds across the state though.

In Mexico, they're probly called tejanos or somethin' like that. Wink
