MAXIMUM SIZE: 4-6 Inches
LIFE SPAN: 5-8 Years
HABITAT: (Endemic) to Lake Langanyika in rocky out croppings that have lots of caves and hiding places around the Burundi coast.
DIET: Accept flake and sticks but prefer brine shrimp, mysis, cyclops and accept freeze dried food if soaked first. (known to eat small snails)

PH: 7-9 Moderately alkaline medium hard water 12-15 dgh
TEMPERAMENT: Peaceful to others and are aggressive to its own especially to super florous females.
TANK SIZE: Minimum 20 gallons
TANK REGION: Lower to more middle of the tank
TANK MATES: Makes a great community fish with others of the same size. (julidochromis, lelupi, brichardi, shell dwellers, cyprichromisto name a few).
FILTRATION AND SETUP:Hob,mechanical and canister filters are great.lots of rock work ,caves,and small hiding places.Likes sandy to small gravel and wont hurt plants.
COLORATION: Black vertical and horizontal lines with white speckles on there fins and sometimes body. The fins almost always have white tips with a thin black stripe around them. (very beautiful and graceful).
BREEDING: Shelter breeder who lays around 70-100 eggs but can lay up to 300 or so but not that common to do so. Both parents guard the eggs ,fry and territory. Eggs hatch in 4 to 5 days and are free swimming in another 8 to 10 days in which they fry love brine shrimp to eat.
