Well Im getting a 100gal tank from uncle and wanted to start an agressive community since I have a soical community. And here are my list of question.

1-What filtration would you guys recommend?

2-What fish get along with what?(Because I want to get something colorful and cool like the flowerhorn, or the Jaguar)

3-What are your guys set up for this kind of thing?

A big part of it would be what kind of budget do you have to work with? Is the tank a plain tank or has it been drilled?

Personally I like the Rena XP canister filters, and/or the Marineland Emperors for a tank that size. Depending on what you're stocking one XP4 could be sufficient, or a canister and a hang on back (HOB) filter like the Emperor 400.

I also like Pondmaster and Eheim but I've only ever really used their pond gear.

As for fish compatibility it may be better to browse some online to get an idea of what you want. Most flowerhorn I've dealt with need to be kept alone, while jags seem to be alright with things that don't look like jags mostly.

With any Cichlid tank filtration is a very essential part...over filter, over filter, over filter! Large Cichlids will uproot plants some will eat them so rocks, caves and driftwood are a good choice...I like darker backgrounds and substrate for Cichlids with proper lighting. There are thousands of Cichlids with lots of different requirements....it sounds like you are going for larger Cichlids but with only 100 gallons you would be very limited with a Jaguar or a Flowerhorn. I would go with some smaller species like Firemouths, Convicts, Rainbow Cichlids, or something of that sort. A larger Cichlid but not so big would be a good centerpiece like a pair of Severums.
